IP geolocation maps an IP address to its approximate geographic location. Every device connected to the internet has an IP address assigned by its internet service provider, and these addresses are allocated in regional blocks. By looking up which block an IP belongs to, we can determine the country, and often the city or region, where that connection originates. This is useful for analyzing your website traffic, investigating suspicious activity, or verifying where a server is physically hosted.

IP geolocation is approximate and identifies where the IP block is registered, not necessarily where the user is physically sitting. VPN and proxy users will show the location of their exit node, not their real location. CDN-hosted websites may resolve to IP addresses in different countries depending on where you are querying from.
